Green Monster!

I’ve been reading about the benefits of green smoothies for awhile, but I’ve always been too nervous to try one.  That was until I came across Iowa Girl Eats she raves about the Green Monster on her blog and drinks them all the time.  So I decided to be brave and try one today for breakfast, and I have to say, I’m impressed!  I tweaked her recipe just a bit, I added a spoonful of Chobani vanilla Greek yogurt to make it a little thicker (mine seemed a bit watery) and I haven’t received the Chia seeds I ordered yet so I couldn’t add those.

Here’s her recipe

1/2 scoop of vanilla whey protein powder
1/2 tablespoon chia seeds
1 cup unsweetened vanilla Almond Breeze (almond milk)
1 tablespoon almond butter
1 frozen banana (I cut it in half before I froze it to make it easier to blend)
enough spinach to fill the blender to the top

1 spoonful of vanilla Chobani greek yogurt (optional…this was my add in)

Put all the ingredients in the blender except the frozen banana and blend until smooth.  Then add the banana and again blend until smooth.
